What are the best notes for art and culture for the UPSC?
Art and Culture is seen as one of the toughest topic in UPSC preparation. I had a similar intuition initially but a simple strategy sailed my through.
As we have paucity of time, study limited content and revise it again and again. Use google – photos and videos to see the details as doing so would help in retention of content. We may not remember the content but these photos and videos would act as retrieval cues during the revision and exam time.
I would recommend the following sources –
NIOS & IGNOU material
Make notes of these and revise accordingly. Topics from current affairs can be added to notes and questions from test series such as Visionias and vajiram can also be added.
Many a times, questions in mains are seen as bizarre, something which we cannot study in so much detail in the given time period. I would suggest to have a complete understanding of the basics of Art and Culture syllabus from the above mentioned sources, revise to have a grip over it and present answers in a culturally sound language.
Even if you don’t know the exact answers, make sure you construct answers using your given knowledge with terms and details which may sound as if you have a good knowledge of the subject.
