Considering the unpredictable nature of UPSC examination it is suggested that all the non public administration optional candidates, at least refer this book once.
Many topics are not important from exam point of view. But few topics like 2nd ARC report, Sachar committee, Hota Commission, Budget, 20th law commission, etc are present though not very detailed descriptions are given.
But some topics alike regulatory bodies, welfare schemes are very well presented. I think this book will only add something to our preparation. Non public administration background students will definitely find it helpful.
There are few topics which are necessary to be read whether UPSC has asked questions in previous 1-2 years or not. So in that respect this book is useful for both prelims and mains.
